3P-27 : Synthesis of functionalized monomer and its thin film, 4-aminomethyl[2.2]paracyclophane, with CVD polymerization

2020
A CVD polymerization is essential process to synthesize a thin film relatively easily in semi-conductor, TFT, and etc. Among several CVD types, parylene CVD using a [2.2]paracyclophane as a monomer has a few advantages, which are mechanical properties such as increased Modulus & Strength and chemical properties like resistance of solvents. In ongoing research related to a parylene, we can introduce a variety functional group to benzene in [2.2]paracyclophane to improve the surface characteristics. Herein, we could synthesize a 4-aminomethyl [2.2]paracyclophane as a monomer, and polymerized a thin film that contains an aminomethyl group on the coating surface. That functional group can increase a hydrophilicity of the thin film. Finally, we can define that the new monomers are successfully synthesized and the introduced functional groups are still presented on the surface of polymer after the CVD polymerization. Also, its diverse application method will be presented.
