Preparation of spherical silicon dioxide and its application in cotton fabrics of infrared the insulation

2010
Mono-dispersed spherical silicon dioxide particles were prepared using tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) and ammonia as precursor by sol-gel method. The effects of dosage of ammonium, water and TEOS,reacting temperature on the synthesis of spherical silicon dioxide were investigated. The structure of the synthes-ized product was characterized by FI-IR and TEM.The particles were applied in cotton infrared the insulation finishing through dip-padding method. The results showed that the prepared silicon dioxide particle was spherical structure, the amount of ammonia and water had great effect on the particle size of silicon dioxide, the amount of TEOS and time had some effect on the particle size of silicon dioxide. The speed of temperature rise of finished fabric under infrared radiation became slowly, and the surface temperature of treated cotton fabrics was lower than that of untreated fabric. The cotton fabrics could be imparted cooling and heat insulation performance.
