Influence of MgSO_4 Corrosive Environment on Strength of Soil Cement

2009
The Mg~(2+) and SO_4~(2-)in corrosive environment may affect the mechanical properties of soil cemented seriously. The effects of solution concentration and immersing duration on the surface corrosive degree and compression strength of soil cemented samples were studied by simulating tests in MgSO_4 solutions. The results showed that the corrosive degree of sample surfaces was increasied with the increase of corrosive solution concentration and corrosive time. The compression strength decreased with the increase of solution concentration Mg~(2+) concentration decreases and the SO_4~(2-) concentration was of parabolal trend with the increase of corrsive time. It is concluded that compression strength is closely related with the Mg~(2+) and SO_4~(2-) concentration of MgSO_4 corrosive environment.A strength model of soil cement called Q-M,S modle is set up based on the relaionship between compression strength and concentration of Mg~(z+) and SO_4~(2-).The predicted and measured values are close so that the foumula is accurate and the modle could be used in practical design.
