Suppression of Partial Discharge Interference in Hydro-generator Based on Independent Component Analysis

This paper puts forward a new method of extracting partial discharge signals of hydroelectric generating sets based on independent component analysis(ICA).By the ICA method,the independent or similarly independent source signals can be isolated.For the collected partial discharge signals,the PD pulse signals and background noise can be considered to be independent of each other.Through the separation and de-noising of detected PD signals,with the ICA method PD pulse signals can be obtained.Both in time domain and frequency domain,the integrity of the original signal can be maintained.The validity of this method is proved by a practical example.
