A method for position detection of speakers of a speaker boxes arrangement in which there is a linear array of loudspeakers, comprising: Operating a first speaker of the speakers assembly as an acoustic test signal generator; Receiving the acoustic test signal from the first speaker to the other speakers of the speaker boxes assembly; and Determining a positional relationship between the signal-emitting first speaker and other speakers of the speaker boxes arrangement based on the received in the other speakers acoustic test signal, wherein in each case a level measurement is performed on the received acoustic test signal and determining the positional relationship between the signal-emitting first speaker and other speakers on the basis of a level comparison between the other speakers is done.
