After a thorough evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages, it has been concluded that no particular advantage results from the use of high-tensile steels in tanks, except for the reduced volume of weld metal required to make joints between thick plates. Further, there are believed to be disadvantages from the use of high-tensile steel which need to be carefully evaluated.
