Method and device for thrombectomy

1991
PURPOSE: To prevent disintegration and compression of a blood vessel by elongating first and second passages from a flexible tubular body, providing a jet nozzle of a high pressure fluid in the tubular means of the first passage, controlling the flow rate of the high pressure fluid to keep at almost the same rate as the flow rate of another fluid accompanied with removed thrombus drained from the second passage, and stabilizing the tubular body by a balloon means. CONSTITUTION: A tubular cavity 110 of a catheter 12 is regarded as a passage for a therapeutic device. The tubular cavity 112 is regarded a fluid passage of a balloon 14, and the balloon 14 is fixed to the end 16 of the catheter 12. Further, a metallic tube 118 supplies a passage onto the tubular cavity 112 and the metallic tube 118 is provided with a jet nozzle 164. A throwaway type pump 80 coupled to a tube 76 is installed for mutually relating between an injected volume of a solution containing a physiological salt solution and drained volume, coupling a drain tube 54 to a squirming type pump 58. A flow rate is measured by this pump 58. An emulsion is introduced into the tubular cavity 110, pulling near the thrombus deposit, emulsifying and carrying the deposit away. COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
