Distribution and drug sensitivity of pathogens in patients with chronic suppurative otitis media

2013
Objective:To analyze the distribution characteristics and drug sensitivity of main pathogens in chronic suppurative otitis media(CSOM) for guiding appropriate use of antibiotics in clinic. Methods:Middle ear secretion were collected from 78 CSOM patients(78 ears) to carry out bacteria culture and antimicrobial susceptibility test. Results:Seventy strains of microbes were isolated from the 78 cases. The total detection rate was 89.74%,including 74 strains of bacteria(87.06%) and 11 strains of fungi(12.94%).Stophylococcus aureus(16.47%),staphylococcus epidermidis(16.47%),pseudomonas aeruginosa(16.47%) and coagulase negative staphylococci(12.94%) were the most frequent pathogen isolates.Stophylococcus aureus, staphylococcus epidermidis and pseudomonas aeruginosa were high sensitive to meropenem and the sensitivity rates were 83.33%,100% and 100% respectively. The sensitivity rates of Stophylococcus aureus and staphylococcus epidermidis to moxifloxacin were 66.67% and 80% respectively. The sensitivity rate of pseudomonas aeruginosa to ciprofloxacin was 92.31%.Conclusion:Stophylococcus aureus, staphylococcus epidermidis, pseudomonas aeruginosa and coagulase negative staphylococci are the main pathogenic bacteria of CSOM,and the susceptibility test results are beneficial for choosing appropriate antibiotics.
