Ricerca su un approccio ergoterapico nell'ambito dell'autismo

2011
Autism, one of the most commonly found psychopathologies, is associated with a neurodevelopmental disorder. One of the greatest difficulties associated with this syndrome is that of establishing social relations in an appropriate manner. The latest findings in the fields of developmental neuroscience and in neurophysiology have allowed “Il Trampolino” Centre for Childhood to develop a new method of occupational therapy, called SAS (Sviluppo Abilita Sociali- Development of Social Skills), aimed at rehabilitating the social cognition skills of people with autism. Based on the empirical results achieved, and in response to the need to provide scientific proof of the validity of the SAS method, a Swiss-Italian research project has been established, financed by the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research (FNS) and directed by Professor Evelyne Thommen, in close collaboration with the SUPSI Department of Health Sciences. Approximately forty autistic children from both Ticino and nearby Italy will be involved in the research project.
