Sacred Groves—its Traditional Importance, Social, Cultural Heritage and Religious Belief of the Tribal People in Different Parts of India: A Review

Sacred groves (SG) are small patches where involvement of people makes unique traditional in situ method of nature conservation in India. The ethnic communities protected these patches on religious ground in the name of different deities. These small patches are located in different parts of India which are mainly dominated by tribes and are managed by local communities for different purposes. The groves have significance of cultural and spiritual value for the local people who protected these groves. The purpose of this paper was to understand the ethnic cultural heritage of sacred groves present in different parts of India. Keywords: conservation, ethnic community, sociocultural, threats.
