On the connectivity of modified glass networks

1977
The concept of network connectivity is applied to inorganic oxide glasses of hybrid structure. In order to describe these materials which are ripe for investigation, a new terminology is put forward. By using this terminology, some new lines of research can be readily identified. The way in which the physical properties of these novel materials will change with structure is discussed in broad terms, with particular reference to the glass transition temperature.
