On ecological distribution of bacteria in paddy soils

It is the low 02 content of soil air, low oxidation-reduction potential and the accumulation of reducing substances in paddy soil (1) that govern the growth of soil microbes as well as alter soil bacteria both in number and in composition. This article deals with the ecological distribution of bacteria in the plowed layers of paddy soils in different localities in China, with the corresponding upland fields taken for comparison. The influence of water-logging on bacterial flora in different paddy soils of China has also been investigated.
