Formation and Space-time Distribution of Flowers and Pods for Super-high-yielding Soybeans

2012
Detailed understanding the space-time distribution of flowers and pods will contribute to ascertain the high-yield mechanism for super-high-yielding soybean. In the current study, three super-high-yielding soybean, including Zhonaghuang35,Xindadou1 and 10-124 were planted in field trail with high-yield soybean Xindadou10 as control. For super-high-yielding soybeans, the time of final flowering and initial podding significantly delayed, the duration of flowering and podding prolonged, and flowers and pods per plant increased.Zhonghuang35 had more flowers in middle and upper nodes, while Xindadou1 and 10-124 had more flowers in lower nodes. The pods and seeds mainly distributed in lower and middle nodes for Zhonghuang35,while in middle and upper nodes for Xindadou1 and 10-124.In conclusion, the prolonged duration and delayed peaking time for flowering and podding,as well as increased nodes with flowers and pods, all contributed to the yield formation of super-high-yielding soybean.
