Congenital lipoma with ossification in the hand of a child

1981
A child was born with a subcutaneous lipoma at the base of the right fourth finger. The tumor recurred repeatedly after resections and manifested itself 8 yr later as an ossifying lipoma. It appears to be a benign mesenchymoma and illustrates the pluripotential and multifarious nature of mesenchymal growth.
