Synthesis of Indenes that are Derived from Aldimines with Enones Under Rhodium(III) Catalysis

The rhodium(III)-catalyzed C−H alkylation and intramolecular cyclization of aldimines with enones are described. This transformation provides direct access to the formation of C2-carbonyl-substituted indene derivatives with excellent site-selectivity and functional group compatibility.
