Multiphoton ionization of high Rydberg states

Abstract A simple semiclassical approach is used for the evaluation of the multiphoton ionization cross sections of hydrogen-like atoms. In the case of two-photon ionization above the one-photon ionization threshold the semiclassical and the quantum-mechanical cross sections coincide within a few percent.
