Application of Strain Gradient Plasticity to Micro-torsion Experiments

The applicability of a strain gradient crystal plasticity model to size effects observed on microwires in torsion experiments is discussed. Finite Element simulations of simplified cylindrical grain aggregations are presented and the resulting overall mechanical response is compared to experimental data for gold from the literature.
