The invention relates to a method and a device for posting a picture. The method comprises the following steps of: carrying out face recognition on a to-be-posed picture which requests to be posted by a publisher; carrying out feature value matching on a recognized face with a preset face, and obtaining the identity information of the face in the to-be-posed picture; sending pushing information to an account corresponding to the identity information, wherein the pushing message comprises a notification message for showing whether the personal face is agreed to be displayed in the to-be-posed picture or not; and receiving a response message returned by the account according to the pushing message, and determining whether the face in the to-be-posed picture is displayed or not according to the response message. By use of the method and the device, the privacy problem of the user during picture sharing is effectively guaranteed.
