Analysis of stem-borer resistance and application in breeding of indica rice IR75288-38-3-1.

The excavation of the new resistant stem-borer germplasm resources had the important meaning for rice anti-insect breeding.Stem-borer resistant characteristics of indica rice IR75288-38-3-1 came from INGER were evaluated by inoculating 1-2 age nymph of stem-borer on detached-rice leaf sheath and by planting in the fields under natural conditions.The results showed that IR75288-38-3-1 had strong stem-borer resistant characteristics and the average corrected death rate of stem-borer was 85.7 percent in the experiment of inoculating 1-2 ages nymph of stem-borer on detached-rice leaf sheath.In the use of IR75288-38-3-1 for anti-insect breeding,through selection of anti-insect in Hainan and agronomic traits select in mainland,IR75288-38-3-1 insect-resistant genes could be put into the main maintaining lines and restoring lines genetic background.
