Kaposi sarcoma in patients on tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors. A case‐non case study

2019
: Tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors (anti-TNFα) drugs may give rise to serious adverse effects resulting from immunosupresion [1]. Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is a neoplasm that affects the vascular endothelium; infection with type-8 human herpesvirus (HHV-8) and immunosuppression are both necessary etiological factors for this condition to occur [2]. To address the potential causal relationship between KS and anti-TNFα drugs, we conducted a case-non case study in the WHO pharmacovigilance database, VigiBase.
