The invention discloses a dryer or a pyrolyzer. The dryer or the pyrolyzer comprises a shell (1), a material bed (2), a feeding pipe (3), a rotation driving mechanism (4), an air exhausting pipe (13), driving plates (14), air inlet pipes (16) and a discharging pipe (17). An inner cavity of the shell (1) is divided into an air outlet cavity (B) in the upper portion and an air mixing cavity (A) in the lower portion. The feeding pipe (3) penetrates through the top wall of the shell (1) and extends into the surface of the material bed (2) to input materials, the discharging pipe (17) is connected with the material bed (2) and extends outwards to output materials. The rotation driving mechanism (4) can drive the driving plates (14) to rotate, and therefore materials are driven to move on the material bed (2) and flow into the discharging pipe (17). Rotation feeding can be carried out from the top end of the shell through the feeding pipe, the driving plates are in cooperation to drive materials to move on the material bed, the rotation driving mechanism does not need to be arranged in the air mixing cavity in the bottom of the shell any more accordingly, the temperature of the cavities is not limited by the high temperature of the rotation driving mechanism accordingly, and various temperature requirements of coal type treatment can be met.
