Artificial Neural Network based MPPT with CUK Converter Topology for PV Systems Under Varying Climatic Conditions

Solar photovoltaic energy has turned in to the most imminent source of renewable energy. The PV array ought to be exploited at its maximum power point (MPP) to utilize this energy adequately. Here, MPPT controller is designed using Artificial Neural Network(ANN). Standard MPPT technique, like Perturb and Observe (P&O) offers acceptable performance at constant irradiance and temperature. But the tracking becomes complicated under varying climatic conditions. On the contrary, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is considered as fast, accurate and robust estimation technique. In order to achieve good performance, the PV system is modeled with the Cuk converter and its performance is inspected with a boost converter. The performance of ANN-based MPPT with Cuk converter is analyzed for uniform and non-uniform climatic conditions using Matlab/Simulink software.
