Two-Stage Augmentation Mastopexy
2020
Augmentation mastopexy can be a challenging procedure whether it is accomplished in one or two stages. The surgeon is faced with the difficulty of creating a successful outcome while managing two opposing forces: lifting the breast and decreasing the skin envelope while at the same time adding more volume and weight to the breast. This challenge has led many surgeons to routinely perform these two procedures separately as a staged procedure, usually performing the mastopexy initially and following this months later with a breast augmentation. In our experience, a one-stage procedure is performed in the majority of cases with a two-stage procedure being reserved for those in which it is deemed more appropriate to do these procedures separately.
