First year contribution to international standardization activities by SICE

At the beginning of 2009, SICE started a new committee on international standardization in cooperation with industrial associations including MSTC (Manufacturing Science and Technology Center), JEMIMA (Japan Electric Measuring Instruments Manufacturers' Association), and JARA (Japan Robot Association). Being an academic society, SICE is international and has a tight relation with industry. Possible standardization activities by SICE can roughly be categorized into the following 3 types: (1) educational campaign to academic societies and industries, (2) support for international standardization bodies and their members, (3) making technical proposals to international standardization bodies. By this classification, the first year activities of the SICE committee on international standardization are reported.
