Research Progress on the Chemical Constituents of Lycopus Genus

2014
28 Curr Opin Complement Alternat Med Volume 1 Issue 1 Summary This review describes the chemical constituents of Lycopus genus stored in references recently and summarizes the major chemical constituents of Lycopus genus. The genus contained various types of chemical constituents, primarily including essential oil, terpenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and steroids. A total of more than 90 compounds were isolated and identified. Studies have suggested that the genus is abundant in the world. However, only a few Lycopus species have been reported on the chemical compositions. Therefore, further in-depth studies on Lycopus genus are recommended.
