Application of Miniature Analyzers: from Microfluidic Components to µTAS

The process from the fabrication of individual micromechanical components to the realisation of a micro-TAS is discussed. Possibilities and limitations in the choice of the dimensions of the channels in the flow system are investigated experimentally with the emphasis on mixing aspects. The experimental evaluation of valves especially designed for use in chemical analysis systems is presented. Finally, the importance of focusing on the chemical aspects of micro-TAS is discussed.
