Influence of the Drought on Morphological and Anatomic Parameters of the Top Tier Leaves of Different Wheat Species

2017
Studying of influence of drought to growth and anatomic parameters of the top tier leaves of different wheat species was the purpose of this work. To detect differences between species differing in ploidy level there were identified anatomical features of the structure of inner and external surface of the leaves of each of the studied species, grown under normal conditions and under the induce drought stress. It was revealed that osmotic stress has an impact on the studied parameters of leaves of all the studied species and that change of anatomical structure of a blade of a flag leaf can influence the adaptation potential of the species. It is noted that hexaploid species have more quantity of adaptable mechanisms than di- and tetraploid species concerning protection against drought. It is shown that thickness of abaxial epidermis and the size of the central conducting bundle are correlatively connected with the size of a flag leaf in case of drought, they not depend on the ploidy of the studied species appear and may be good criteria for selection of stress resistant forms of wheat. The high adaptation potential to drought have been noticed at a flag leaf of species T. dicoccum Shuebl, T. macha Dek. ET. Men and T. aestivum L.
