ADVANCED DATA PROCESSING TO CONTROL WIND TUNNEL EXPERIMENTS ON DLR-F9 TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT MODEL

As computers become faster and memory is simply a question of money, more complex configurations, such as adaptive airfoils, can be designed and computed. To test these new configurations, advanced wind tunnel technologies, such as adaptive walls and a modern data acquisition system are demanded. Experiments become more complex and thus require significant data evaluation, such as feature detection, while running. Due to the unique nature of each experiment, data evaluation needs to be extremely flexible. This is achieved by a new modular Run-TimeProcessing system developed by the DLR for supporting the F9 test in the transsonic wind tunnel in Gottingen (TWG). The system was successfully used to provide a decision support during the wind tunnel tests and offer flexible data evaluation. The system has a large potential for optimizing and improving future tests.
