Preliminary Genetic Analysis of Seed Coat Color of Black-grain Wheat in Inner Mongolia

2013
In order to study the inheritance property of seed coat color of black-grain wheat in Inner Mongolia, ten reciprocal cross combinations were obtained from three red-grain wheat varieties and two white-grain wheat varieties, the seed coat colors of plants in F1 and F2 generations were observed, and the heredity characteristics of seed coat color were analyzed. The results showed that black grain color was controlled by karyon, while red grain color and white grain color were controlled by dominant genes. In F2 generation, the cross combinations between black-grain wheat and red-grain or white-grain wheat accorded with the segregation ratio of 9(black) ∶7(red or white),indicating black seed coat color was controlled by two pairs of complementary dominant genes. For the same combination, there was difference in grain chroma among black-grain plants in F2 generation, which showed these two pairs of complementary dominant genes had still dose effect.New wheat varieties with different seed coat colors could be bred by the hybridization between black-grain wheat and red-grain or white-grain wheat.
