Adhesive Strength of an Epoxy-Based Adhesive Joint Under a Complex Stress State
2021
Abstract The paper studies the effect of the stress state on the adhesive characteristics of a polymer coating/substrate system. Tension of modified Arcan specimens with different angles of load application with respect to the plane of adhesion was chosen as the experimental method. Experiments are performed at +23 °C. The analysis of the results has enabled us to formulate a linear failure criterion. The data are presented in the form of diagrams applicable to the determination of a safe stress state, not leading to adhesive joint failure.
