Dense Nanoparticles Arrays for SERS Sensors and Plasmonic Solar Cells

2018
Highly ordered Ag nanoparticles plasmonic arrays with 30 nm periodicity grown on patterned templates are reported using bottom-up self-assembly process. Such arrays exhibit strong near-field enhancement and anisotropic Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR). Different in plane and out of plane dielectric coefficients calculated by modelling Jones matrix elements confirm that nanoparticle/nanowire arrays are biaxial anisotropic (ex ≠ ey ≠ ez). Due to highly reflecting and large field enhancement nature of such metal nanoparticles arrays their potential applications as plasmonic back reflector in photovoltaic and plasmonic sensor for detecting the glucose and oral cancer is reported.
