TEST ON INDUCED MATURATION OF POND-REARED GREY MULLET (MUGIL CEPHALUS LINNAEUS) BY LHRH-A_2 PELLET IMPLANTATION

2002
An 81-day implantation trial was carried out aiming at inducing oocyte maturation of hatchery-produced grey mullet (M. cephalusL.) in captivity by luteotropin releasing hormone analogue (LHRH-A 2) at water temperature of 15.2-25.9℃ and salinity of 30-32. It was found that the development of oocytes in the implantation group was more significant than in the control group. 30% of the broodstocks in the implantation group developed the ripe eggs, with the diameter above 500μm, and 0% in the control group. The results showed that LHRH-A 2implantation is available in promoting the development of oocytes of grey mullet.
