Method for communication with client side and server

The invention discloses a method for communication with a client side at a server and the server. The client side is enabled to timely know the establishing situation of long connection so as to communicate with the server. The method comprises the steps that a request message transmitted by the client side is received, and client side identification of the client side included in the request message is acquired; storage of long connection channel identification corresponding to the client side identification in a client side information list is determined, and if the long connection channel identification is stored, a first response message used for indicating establishment of long connection is returned to the client side; if the long connection channel identification is not stored, a long connection channel is allocated for the client side, the long connection channel identification of the long connection channel and the client side identification are stored in the client side information list, and a second response message used for indicating that long connection is not established is returned to the client side; and messages are transmitted between the server and the client side according to the established long connection with the client side.
