Leading article: Information technology in the DSIR

DSIR's new Division of Information Technology is one recognition of the growing significance of IT across almost all human activity. A recent Australian study of the IT industry predicts that the world market for IT related products will grow from $US365 billion in 1982 to around $US800 billion in 1992. Clearly, the information age has arrived.
