Prospects for nuclear and radiochemistry in Germany
2000
An overview is given on the situation of nuclear and radiochemistry in Germany. The topics qf research are described following a report by the Nuclear Chemistry Section of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). The universities and research institutions with programs in nuclear chemistry are presented. Three examples of nuclear chemistry research which are expected (among others) to indicate future directions of research are presented in more detail: chemistry of the heaviest elements, long-term safety aspects of nuclear waste storage, and trace analysis of radionuclides. The last Section contributes an international aspect with a brief account of nuclear and radiochemistry in France and the USA.
