Diets of coastal and inland-dwelling water mongoose: Short communication

Diets of water mongoose Atilax paludinosus living along the coast and inland, as derived from faecal analyses, were compared. The most important prey items of coastal mongoose were amphipods and the common shore crab Cyclograpsus punctatus. Mongoose along two rivers inland from the coast preyed heavily on frogs, rodents and birds, or crabs and fish, respectively.
