Summary Excavation for engineering works near Sopley, Hampshire, with four exploratory boreholes, has proved over 90 ft. of Bracklesham sands and clays under terrace gravels of the River Avon. A detailed description of these beds is given, and their probable correlation with the Bournemouth-Highcliffe coast-section discussed.
