Pan Labral Tear in an Overhead Throwing Athlete

2019
Pan labral tears of the glenoid labrum often cause pain recurrent instability of the shoulder. These tears typically occur due to an acute traumatic event, such as falling onto an outstretched arm, overhead throwing, overhead weightlifting, etc. Degenerative deterioration with aging can also lead to pan labral injury. Pan labral tears are commonly preceded by superior labrum degeneration, especially in overhead throwing athletes. Thorough patient history, physical examination, and diagnostic imaging are important for accurate diagnosis and treatment of pan labral tears.
