Effect of 10% Phenylephrine Eye Drops on Systemic Blood Pressure in Normotensive & Hypertensive Patient

Objectives: A prospectve study to evaluate the effect of 10% Phenylephrne eye drops on systemc blood pressuren normotensve and hypertensve patents. Methods: The sample comprsed of 55 normotensve patents and 34 hypertensve patents were subjected to 10% Phenylephrne eye drops durng routne eye examnaton. Results: No statstcally and clncally sgnficantncreasen blood pressure after thenstllaton of 10% Phenylephrne eye drops was seenn 87% of normotensve patents and 76% of hypertensve patents. Mld rse of blood pressure was seenn 11% of normotensve patents andn 15% of the hypertensve patents. Only one patent (3%) had severe rse of blood pressure �n the hypertensve group. Conclusion: Ths study shows that pupllary dlataton wth 10% Phenylephrne eye drops dd not sgnficantlyncrease systemc blood pressuren normotensve and hypertensve patents. Although precautons should be taken when usedn hypertensve patents.
