A Non-iterative Convoluted Harmonic Beamforming Technique in Time Modulated Arrays

2020
In this study, the synthesis of the time-modulated array (TMA) has been analyzed in terms of both the enhancement of the intended harmonic component and the steering capability of this harmonic. In order to accomplish the radiation pattern at desired harmonic frequencies, including high-order harmonics, the dual-phase variable pulse amplitude (DPVPA) time sequence signal is proposed. On the other hand, the periodic convolution operator, which based on a specific signal with only certain components in the frequency domain, demonstrates superior ability in completely suppressing the remaining unwanted harmonics. Moreover, without using any optimization technique, the pulse amplitude parameters are obtained through only the methodological analysis; therefore, the proposed method provides convenience in terms of reconfiguration. The harmonic-enhancement capability and harmonic steering flexibility of the proposed approach are shown through representative examples.
