GSM-Based Remote Temperature Monitoring System for High-Voltage Power Devices

Temperature monitoring for high-voltage power devices is very important to prevent accidents and ensure the security and reliability of the power supply system. The purpose of this paper was to design a remote temperature monitoring system which integrated wireless communication technology, ARM embedded technology and infrared temperature sensor technology. The system consists three parts: remote detecting terminal (RDT), data center host (DCH) and portable monitoring terminal (PMT). The RDT is in charge of detecting the device's temperature and sending the measured data to the DCH in form of short message (SMS) through global system of mobile communication (GSM) wireless networks. The DCH is responsible for receiving, analyzing, storing and displaying the measured temperature data. And also, the DCH can publish the history data on the website using PHP programs with apache web server. The PMT is used to query the real-time measured data and receive the warning message. The experimental results demonstrated that the reliability and the response speed of the system can meet the requirements of the temperature monitoring for high-voltage power devices.
