2011
The invasive butterfly ( Papilio demoleus L. 1758) was first discovered in Cuba in 2007. Observations about the natural history of this species in Eastern Cuba is presented. Specimens were found in two locations on the southern coast of the province of Santiago de Cuba to the east of the town of that name, in November and December of 2010. We observed 46 specimens, flying fast and erratic at 1,3-2,0 m of height from the ground. Adults fed at 15 species of vascular plants belonging to 11 families. The species, at least to the Eastern Cuban provinces, has indeed continued its expansion and is well established.
