Effect of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane on the sorption characteristics and structure of polyethylene

1988
The equilibrium solubility of diphenylmethane, diphenylamine, 2,4,6-tri-tert,butylphenol and phenyl-β-naphthylamine in polyethylene was studied in relation to the concentration of a modifying additive. By IR spectroscopy and radiothermoluminescence it was established that octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane induces structural transformations in amorphous domains of polyethylene, leading to a complicated dependence of the solubility of additives on the concentration of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane.
