Air Contamination In San Juan (Argentina)

2000
In most urban areas the main anthropogenic pollutant sources are vehicles. Relatively compact square of San Juan, high intensity of roads, the climatic conditions of desert with numerous sunny days and high daily temperatures are able to intensify the photochemical reactions. The major components of these reactions are oxides of nitrogen and volatile organic compounds emitted by vehicles. The objective of this study is to develop the emission model for atmospheric pollutants in San Juan, and to estimate ozone concentrations at various weather scenarios. The daily cycle of car traffic and the ground level ozone concentrations in San Juan area are determined.
