Group B Streptococci

1997
We have previously shown that the most prominent feature of type IV group B Streptococcus (GBS) systemic infection in mice is a high incidence of diffuse septic arthritis1–3. In this study we investigated the ability of different GBS serotypes to induce arthritis in mice to evaluate the role of type-specific polysaccharide on the appearance of articular lesions. Furthermore, all GBS serotypes were assayed for virulence and growth of GBS in the blood, kidneys, and joints during infection.
