Skin Disease and Sexuality
2003
Well into the twentieth century, open discussions of sexuality were
practically taboo. Opportunities to talk about sexuality with a doctor
frequently arose only in connection with diseases that had a shameful
character. The reprehensible character of venereal disease was automatically
extended to sexuality. Recently, however, in addition to the pathological
aspects, the physiological-and erotic-aspects of the skin have been
examined and studied (1).
