Study and Classification of Recommender Systems: A Survey

Recommender system is an important research domain which has already attracted a lot of researchers during the period of the last decade. Various approaches and techniques have been proposed by different researchers related to recommender systems. Many of them explain the working of existing recommender systems, and other proposes some improvement to the existing ones. The aim of this research work is to study and analyze the trend of research in the area of recommender system which has been fulfilled by investigating the current published work in this area. This study is a survey of 174 research papers which have been published in 22 different reputed journals in the area of recommender systems with specific recommendation techniques from 2010 to 2019. The selected articles were classified basis on a unique classification approach proposed in this study. The results of this study lead toward providing the insightful future direction to researchers who look forward to explore the domain of recommender systems.
