From the exploitation of natural resources to the utilization of human competence

Knowledge, the forgotten factor of production, is now emerging at the centre of the resolution of the problems of depletion of natural resources. Yet the substitution of high added value energy forms for fossil fuels, while it may solve this problem, will not do so without an upheaval in the international geopolitical equilibria.
