UEFA Euro 2012 - challenges for Poland

Poland and Ukraine have jointly undertaken the organisation of UEFA Euro 2012 European Football Championship. This mega event in June and July 2012 has appeared to determine the pace and the shape of the development of the Polish logistics systems. An analysis of the average daily traffic in Poland, based on statistics from 2010, shows the the challenge the Polish transport system is facing to ensure the capacities necessary to coordinate logistics services for football fans and also for goods related to the event, with passenger services remaining the main challenge. The article summarizes what kind of actions need to be taken to guarantee an effective and efficient logistics mangement in the organisation of this major sporting event, especially with regard to efficient passenger services.
