The Inter-generational Differences between the Western Students and their Parents in The Information Age——A survey report about students' and their parents' media literacy from two Guangxi universities

Students' and their parents' media literacy, media awareness, and media use from two Guangxi universities are investigated.The similarities and differences of the media awareness are also analyzed in terms of media literacy, communication, values, etc.The results from the survey analysis indicate, university students tend to use Internet, mobile phones, television and other new media more;their communication means are more diversified.Parents were more conservative, cautious and practical in media commutations.In terms of consumption in the media, entertainment and communication, the college students rely more heavily on networks, mobile phones and other "screen on the screen" interaction with a certain idealistic tendency;while their parents trust traditional media more.This shows the era characteristics and social personality of the parents in an era of social transformation.
